Dr. Brian C. Procter M.D.
Brian Charles Procter, MD was born and raised in the Metroplex. Following graduation from Trinity High School in Euless, he attended The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology at The University of Texas at Austin. After a brief career in Molecular Biology in Houston, he attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated with his Doctorate in Medicine in 1997. Dr. Procter completed residency in Family Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is 2000.
Following residency, Dr. Procter established Procter Family Healthcare in McKinney, Texas in 2000. In 2006, he moved to his present facility, McKinney Family Medicine. His medical interests include preventative medicine, outpatient COVID-19 management, chronic condition management, minor surgery and Hormone Replacement Therapy. In 2005, he established Nuvage Laser Medspa, and has become one of Collin County’s leady Botox and Juvederm providers. Over the years, he modernized McKinney Family Medicine using advanced healthcare technology systems in order to optimize the patient experience and deliver exceptional customer service.
He is a member of AAPS, America’s Frontline Doctors, the Truth for Health Foundation, a BioTE provider, and a Diplomat of AAFP. Dr. Procter lives in Wimberley. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife and kids.
Vanessa Pickard, MPAS, PA-C
Vanessa was born and raised in the DFW Metroplex and lives in Lucas with her husband and 2 daughters. She received her Bachelor Science in BioMedical Science from Texas A&M University in College Station in 2006. Vanessa graduated with honors in her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at UNT Health Science in Fort Worth in May 2010. Family Medicine and Pediatrics have always been her passion because she enjoys building relationships with each and every member of the family. She spent a year in clinical rotations where she experienced all aspects of medicine including surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and an extended clerkship in family medicine. She also has experience in urgent care where she managed patients with minor surgical complaints and emergencies. Vanessa has been at McKinney Family Medicine since April of 2011 and feels like it’s her home away from home. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family and friends, especially if it involves outdoors. She likes to camp, go to the lake, ride ATVs’ and have backyard barbecues. Vanessa also has a French bulldog named “Merle” who travels everywhere with her and is considered part of the family.
Erica Smith, MPAS, PA-C
Erica R. Smith has been a Certified Physician Assistant for Mckinney Family Medicine since 2011. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Texas Woman’s University in December of 2004. She graduated with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch in December of 2008.
Family Medicine is her primary interest at heart because she enjoys building long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families. Her main goal in healthcare is to deliver a combination of fresh thinking, practical advice, and inspirational energy that her patients have come to know and love for over 10 years. She specializes in a wide range of healthcare services that include preventative care focused on a combination of acute and chronic illness with an emphasis in hormone replacement therapy. She has been a Trusted Certified Medical Provider of BioTE which is a specialized form of bioidentical hormone replacement since 2011.
Erica is also fluent in Spanish and has a strong interest in providing healthcare to the Spanish speaking community.
She currently resides in Celina,Texas and enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two daughters. A lot of their weekends are busy with their kids’ sports, but they enjoy traveling when they can. She is strong in her Christian faith and is a current member of High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney, Texas. Her faith-based approach to practicing medicine has allowed her the opportunity to provide culturally competent care and, ultimately, exemplary clinical care to all patients.
Cortney Hanson, MPAS, PA-C
Cortney grew up in McKinney, graduated from McKinney High School, and currently resides in McKinney with her husband, two boys ages 7 and 11, two dogs and one cat. She completed her Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from University of North Texas Health Science Center. She has been in medicine for over 20 years with a background in Cardiology, Pediatrics, Hospitalist Medicine, and Holistic Health. She has been a practicing Physician Assistant for more than 10 years, with the majority of them at McKinney Family Medicine. She loves medicine, getting to know her patients, and enjoys treating them like family. She is passionate about over all well-being and treating each patient individually. Aside from work, she loves spending time with her family, pets, and friends. She loves traveling, enjoying their lake house, and working out. She hopes she can provide the upmost care for patient families and wishes to gain a relationship with each one of them. She believes every patient (and person) has a story, and we can learn and benefit from listening to and helping each other. Cortney feels so blessed to work in medicine, uphold the Hippocratic oath and incorporate her faith in the workplace.
Megan Roberts, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Megan was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and now resides in Lucas, Texas with her husband and 3 children. She obtained her RN and MSN in 2008 from the University of Texas School of Nursing in Austin and gained experience working in the medical/surgical inpatient hospital setting. She then obtained her FNP Post Master’s Certificate through the UT School of Nursing in 2015 and practiced healthcare in Austin until moving back to the DFW area in 2019. Megan has experience as an advanced practice provider in multiple settings including family practice, integrative/functional primary care, inpatient and outpatient endocrinology, and weight management. She is most interested in preventative medicine and identifying the root cause of disease while using holistic modalities when possible to obtain wellness. Outside of healthcare Megan enjoys spending time outdoors with her family as well as cooking, swimming and gardening.
