Dear McKinney Family Medicine (MFM) Patient:

Thank you for allowing MFM to meet your healthcare needs in 2021. Our goal is to provide the highest quality medical care to you. We are dedicated to making you feel like part of our family and not “just a number” in a crowd. We value the relationships and trust that we have built with our patients over the past 21 years, and we are confident those relationships make our practice different than others. Our healthcare team always strives to go above and beyond to meet your needs.

However, recent events regarding Medicare, insurance companies, overregulation, and the pandemic have strained the patient-physician relationship and negatively affected our ability to provide you the unmatched service you deserve. Over the last 20 years, reimbursement rates from insurance companies and Medicare have decreased significantly, and their demands on our staff increased substantially. This type of healthcare system interferes with, obstructs, and impedes every aspect of the art and delivery of your healthcare. It opposes what is in the best interests of your health, and it is deliberately unethical and unsustainable.

MFM has been your healthcare champion throughout the pandemic; fighting for you, your rights, and your health every step of the way. We believe in caring for you by adhering to the strict standards of Hippocrates. We have been and will continue to be here for you and your family. With a collective goal of keeping the individualized touch for which we are known, it is time to change our operating structure. This decision was not easy but necessary to move forward now to ensure the quality of your future healthcare.

  • Effective January 3rd, 2022, MFM will be changing to a direct patient care practice with a fee schedule as follows:
    • $300 ($150 for ages 1-17): Established Patient Annual Admin Fee per patient payable on 1/3/2022 or prior to the patient’s first visit (those patients that paid a similar fee in 2021 will not owe this fee until 1/2/2023).
    • $500 ($250 for ages 1-17) New patient admin fee
    • MFM will continue to process claims for “in-network” insured (Commercial and Medicare) patients until February 28th, 2022 (and until January 15th, 2022, for Cigna patients).
  • Effective March 1st 2022, MFM will be changing to a direct patient care practice with a self-pay-based (pay as you go) fee schedule for ALL patients as follows (all fees payable on date of service):
    • $300 ($150 for ages 1-17): Established Patient Annual Admin Fee as above payable on or prior to the patient’s first visit of the calendar year plus:
    • $250: Annual Physicals and Lab Follow-ups (>3 issues)
    • $200: Sick Visits and Med Checks (1-3 issues)
    • The Admin Fee for all New Patients the first year will be $500.
    • Each patient will have the opportunity to visit with Dr. Procter Tuesday through Thursday, in addition to your scheduled provider.
    • MFM will increase accessibility to our team by supplying a cell number to text the provider on call at any time.
    • MFM will provide direct care with your provider without the involvement of a third party.
    • MFM will supply itemized receipts at checkout for you to send to your insurance company.
    • MFM will continue to draw labs in-house and refer patients for outpatient imaging and specialty referrals.
    • MFM will attempt to use cost-effective generic medications where possible and refer brand-name prescriptions to a third party for any prior authorizations.
    • MFM will be considered “Out-Of-Network,” therefore no longer contracted with Medicare, Medicaid, or commercial insurance companies, and will not be able to process any medical claims.
    • The Annual Admin fee covers services provided such as referral management, prior authorizations, form completion, as well as emails, texts, and phone calls during office hours.
    • MFM will continue to develop and expand our website patient portal with a comprehensive list of fees, policies, information, FAQs, and descriptions of other value-added services. These policies are not negotiable.
